Attend the Lighting of the Christmas Tree at Old Town Holiday Stroll

If decorating the Christmas tree is your favorite holiday tradition, then you don’t want to miss this annual event. The lighting of the giant Christmas tree in Don Luis Plaza starts off this festivity on Dec. 4 in Historic Old Town. Then, from 5 to 9 p.m., the whole family can enjoy live entertainment, dancers, various family activities, and even a meet-and-greet with Santa.

See Some Lights at the Twinkle Light Parade

Albuquerque’s biggest holiday parade, the annual Twinkle Light Parade, is a fun-filled event the kids will love. With over 300,000 Christmas lights used on the dozens of parade floats that pass you by, this is a memorable event the entire family will love turning into an annual tradition.

This year’s parade starts at 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 5. Make sure to get there early and grab a good seat before the sidewalks fill up so you’ll have a great view of Mr. and Mrs. Claus as they close out the parade.

Go on the Luminaria Tour

Celebrate an annual New Mexican, Christmas Eve tradition this year by going on the Luminaria Tour. This fun and festive event takes you on a tour through the most beautiful neighborhoods and places decked out in luminarias and Christmas lights in Albuquerque. The tour starts at the Downtown Convention Center and lasts around 45 minutes. Tickets are $3 for adults and $1.70 for children ages 10 to 18 and seniors. Take a Ride on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway

If your family is more in the mood to celebrate winter and nature than they are the holidays, take a ride on the scenic Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway. You’ll be able to appreciate all the rugged beauty the Sandia Mountains have to offer once you step inside and ascend 2.7 miles up to 10,378 feet. From there, you’ll have an unbelievable 11,000-square-mile view of the stunning landscape of New Mexico.

Catch an incredible sunset anytime this month aboard this impressive aerial tramway. Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and teens ages 13+, and $12 for kids ages 5 to 12.
